Learn Physics Through Stories Bundle (Ages 10-12)

Hello!

My name is Sarah. I have always loved both physics and reading. Especially fantasy. I got my degree in physics and spent many years tutoring it. I always find it easier to remember things I learn through stories. It makes the concepts feel so much more real and useful to me. I found that lots of my students felt the same way, so I wrote these books and choose-your-path stories to be fun, engaging introductions to physics concepts for kids.

Who are these for?

From what I hear from parents and teachers, these tend to be good a good fit for kids who are into math or science or who like solving puzzles.

How would I use these?

They're fun to read aloud as a group, to act out, or to read and then make your own versions.

Each of the stories included in this bundle are self-contained. You don't need any outside physics knowledge; you can just jump in and read them. They explain the concepts through stories, and then give either puzzles or practice problems or activities.

Here's a little more about each of the products included in this bundle (you can read their full descriptions by clicking on the links to their individual pages above).

The Sorceress of Circuits

This is a choose-your-path style story with multiple endings that will teach you about electric circuits as you play through. You play an adventurer who comes across a castle. You help the two apprentices defend it from an attack, then you repair the castle and an airship and go on a rescue mission to save their mentor. It teaches about current, voltage, resistance, charge, parallel and series circuits, and lemon batteries :)

Fairy Tale Physics

This is a series of short (ish) fairy tales that teach physics concepts. Each of the stories includes additional explanations of the topics covered in the stories, plus some activities and practice exercises.

The Case of the Seven Reflections

Another choose-your-path story that teaches about mirrors through an investigation to find the seven dwarves' missing emerald.

Physics Fables

A collection of short stories I wrote to teach special relativity, buoyancy, polar coordinates, and the physics of animal perception.
